Benefits of APIs

An API is a set of routine definitions, protocols, and tools that allow for a software solution interface to interact with other sources or software elements. Enabling communication between your government content management system and third party software provides the flexibility to leverage the capabilities of both systems. This information exchange between systems maximizes productivity and efficiency, allowing you to do more with your available resources. 

CivicEngage makes several APIs available so that our clients can utilize the following modules and features through third party systems:

  • Calendars
  • Alert Center
  • News Flash
  • Citizen Request Tracker (CRT)

With APIs, you benefit from single sign-on, shared data exchanges, such as citizen contact lists, internal calendars, and the ability to maximize the functionality of multiple leading software solutions.

New CivicEngage Available APIs

Two types of API integrations:

  • Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) APIs - A messaging protocol that allows programs that run on different operating systems (such as Windows and Linux) to communicate using Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) and its Extensible Markup Language (XML).
  • Representational State Transfer (REST) APIs – A protocol that relies on a stateless client-server and cacheable communications protocol using HTTP.

Katrina holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in International Relations from the United States Military Academy at West Point, a Master of Science Degree in Organizational Psychology and Leadership from Teacher’s College at Columbia University, and a Master of Science Degree in Public Policy Administration from University of Missouri-St Louis. She has over 20 years of experience leading and facilitating groups, which she now applies in the local government space.
