CivicPlus® Hosts Local Fourth Grade Career Sponsorship Class, Celebrates Website Launch

Written by CivicPlus

On May 14, CivicPlus hosted eleven fourth graders from Flint Hills Christian School in Manhattan, and their teacher Mrs. Warren for an interactive classroom visit as part of their Career Sponsorship class. Over the past several months CivicPlus staff visited Flint Hills Christian School to help the students create and design their own CivicEngage® website about the class’ pet tarantula, Tobias. During Tuesday’s on-site visit, the class celebrated their hard work and success with a website launch party.

“We value the time and enthusiasm that our students received from our CivicPlus partners for this project,” said Warren. “We understand the critical role that technology plays in our world today and will continue to play in the future, so giving our students the ability to learn practical digital design, writing, and technology skills is incredibly valuable.”

During their on-site visit, in addition to celebrating the launch of their website, Mrs. Warren’s students learned more about CivicPlus, its technology solutions, and its mission to help make government work better. A representative from each of CivicPlus’ departments shared a brief overview of the department’s role with the students to help showcase the wide variety of skills and talents that all come together to accomplish the company’s mission.

“CivicPlus is committed to our local Manhattan community, and to fostering local talent among the next generation of our local business leaders,” said Katie Breese, CivicPlus Executive Administrator. “We were thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Mrs. Warren’s students and hope we have inspired some of them to continue to pursue their passion for technology, design, and innovation.”

Before leaving, the students toured the CivicPlus office and had the opportunity to meet and greet the CivicPlus Chief Morale Officer and office dog, Patti. The students left with gifts from CivicPlus, new friends, and new skills that they will build upon in the years to come.
