Engagement Starts with a City Website Built
to Foster Community Involvement
I’m the link.
I exist somewhere between city homes and City Hall. Day to day, I’m part of a small army of municipal staff in a slew of departments. But I haven’t forgotten what it’s like to be on the other side. Citizens often feel a thousand miles away from city leaders who are just a few blocks down the road. My job is to bridge that gap.
Online is everything.
It’s where I pay my bills (late), where I brag about my kids, where I complain about other people bragging about their kids. It’s how I found this job in the first place.
Well, citizens’ lives are playing out on the Internet — same as mine. Of course that’s where they should learn why taxes are up, comment on the proposed housing policy, or chime in on where our city’s headed.
The citizens are this community. It’s their story; I just want to help them tell it. A better city website could change the whole narrative.
