CivicPlus Partners with City of McAlester to Enhance Transparency and Increase Civic Engagement
New tools mobilizes meetings, agendas, and municipal code into an accessible platform
MANHATTAN, KS – March 12, 2026 — CivicPlus®, a public sector SaaS leader, partnered with the City of McAlester, Oklahoma, to bring City Council meetings, agendas, and municipal code into one accessible online hub, enhancing transparency, streamlining legislative processes, and giving residents easier access to essential public information.
City of McAlester leadership recognized that residents faced challenges accessing meeting materials, ordinances, and archived records across multiple systems. At the start of 2026, the City Council expanded its meeting agenda with additional discussions and topics to address public interests and added workshops to encourage greater public discussion on City legislation and news. With more than 200 meetings anticipated this year alone, a streamlined agenda management and codification system became essential.
To address these needs, McAlester and CivicPlus worked to integrate CivicPlus Agenda and Meeting Management and Codification into the City’s day-to-day operations. The updated system supports McAlester in consolidating agendas, supporting documents, livestreams, and codified laws into a user-friendly platform to make it easier for residents to stay informed and for staff to manage growing demands.
New key features include:
- Unified meetings & agendas in one view: Residents can now access agendas, meeting packets, minutes, and archived video recordings in a single location.
- Standardized internal workflows: Departments can submit agenda items through a unified system, improving efficiency, organization, and preparation for City Council and board meetings.
- Direct access to City ordinances: Codification ensures McAlester’s municipal code is accurate, searchable, and easy to navigate.
“Our priority is ensuring that residents can easily access the information that shapes decisions in their community,” said Mayor of McAlester, Justin Few. “We are working toward making it simpler for citizens to follow meetings and to stay engaged with their local government and our officials.”
“McAlester is setting a strong example of how modern, accessible technology can strengthen transparency,” said CivicPlus Vice President of Product Management Jennifer Curtis. “By bringing meetings, agendas, and municipal code into one intuitive experience, the City is making it easier for residents to stay informed and for staff to manage a growing meeting schedule.”
