Dover, Delaware – December 9, 2021 – Antonina Tantillo, Deputy Town Manager/Town Clerk with the Town of Townsend, is the recipient of the 2021 Municode Delaware Municipal Clerks Institute Scholarship. She was awarded the scholarship at the Delaware League of Local Government’s October 28, 2021 Dinner Meeting.

About the Scholarship Recipient

The 2021 Municode Delaware Municipal Clerks Scholarship covers the $500 cost of Antonina to enroll in the Fall 2021 Institute. Antonina received a Master’s degree in Public Administration (MPA) from the University of Delaware’s Biden School of Public Policy and Administration in 2019. She began her role of Town Clerk for the Town of Townsend in May 2020 and was recently advanced to Deputy Town Manager/Town Clerk. Prior to this position, Antonina served as a University of Delaware (UD) summer 2019 Local Government Management Fellow for the Towns of Milton and Fenwick Island, Delaware. She was also an Urban Policy Fellow with the Wilmington City Council.

In her scholarship application, Antonina said, “I began my role…during the COVID-19 Pandemic and following the departure of three former Town Clerks within a one and a half year time period. During my time in this new role, I have worked diligently to learn about the Town, its residents, and stakeholders and to establish processes and procedures to ensure residents are served as efficiently and equitably as possible.

As I was starting in this role, I had the opportunity to attend the Municipal Clerks Institute in the Fall of 2020 and gained a lot of knowledge about the role of municipal clerks and about the uniqueness of the Delaware local government. I also had the opportunity to meet other municipal clerks, learn about their roles in their municipal governments and about their experiences with each of the topics we were learning about in the Institute. This experience was extremely valuable to me and has helped me significantly in my role as a Municipal Clerk. Attending this year’s Municipal Clerks Institute would assist me in my role as a municipal clerk even further.”
