To create a more connected and transparent government, the City of Clewiston, FL launched a comprehensive digital modernization initiative that unified its website, communications, and administrative services within a single CivicPlus® ecosystem. Rather than relying on disconnected systems, the City created an integrated digital experience that improved efficiency for staff while making it easier for residents to access information and engage with local government.  

At the center of the initiative was a redesigned website built with CivicPlus Municipal Websites, providing residents with a more intuitive, mobile-friendly hub for city services, department information, news, and community updates. Clewiston also implemented CivicPlus Agenda and Meeting Management, making City Commission and advisory board materials easier to prepare, publish, search, and access. Additional CivicPlus integrations with Municode Codification and NextRequest created centralized systems for municipal ordinances, resolutions, and public records requests, improving transparency while streamlining internal workflows.  

The City’s modernization efforts also strengthened communications across departments by aligning social media and digital communications within the CivicPlus platform. Staff now work within a consistent technology environment that simplifies onboarding and training, improves collaboration, and reduces administrative complexity, allowing more time to focus on serving residents.  

The initiative has already produced meaningful operational improvements. The City has experienced continued growth in website traffic, document access, social media reach, impressions, and resident engagement, while streamlined workflows have improved turnaround times for public records requests and the publication of meeting materials. By creating a single, connected digital ecosystem, the City of Clewiston has strengthened transparency, improved access to government services, and demonstrated that thoughtful modernization can enhance public service while preserving the character and values of its close-knit community.
