CivicPlus, THE modern civic experience platform, announced Shanana Rain Golden-Bear as the winner of its 2023 Love Where You Live contest. The months-long social media campaign asked CivicPlus followers to share their heartfelt comments, photos, and stories about why they love their hometown for a chance to win a $1,500 donation to the civic charity of the winner’s choice.

Shanana Rain Golden-Bear, resident of Quartzsite, Arizona, selected Friends of the Quartzsite Food Bank to receive her $1,500 charitable contribution.

“The Friends of Quartzsite Food Bank plays a crucial role in our community, giving a helping hand to those in need. When folks heard I was going to participate to benefit our Food Bank, it became an amazing collaborative effort,” said Shanana. “Residents sent me their Love Where You Live photos of Quartzsite to share in the contest. Working together is what makes Quartzsite so special! Thank you for the opportunity to share the uniqueness of our community.”

CivicPlus created the Love Where You Live social media campaign to encourage user-generated content that answers the question, why do you love where you live? With topics ranging from civic involvement to holidays and from parks and recreation to summer activities, followers shared memories, photos, and videos that tell the story about what makes their community unique and why they’ve chosen to call it home.

“CivicPlus is committed to developing technology that powers local governments and empowers positive civic experiences that foster trust and appreciation by residents for local leaders,” said CivicPlus Chief Marketing Officer Emily Harnish. “Every Love Where You Live entry highlighted the moving reasons why we call our communities home. It’s an honor to help shine a light on positive social dialogue about our communities and give customers and their residents a place to share their memories.”
