Your community members can now register for events, sign up for leagues, and reserve facilities without an extra login step. Thanks to our latest single sign-on (SSO) feature enhancement, we’re making it more seamless for residents who interact with other personalized areas of your website to conduct transactions with your CivicPlus Recreation Management software.

What is SSO and How Does it Benefit My Residents?

SSO strengthens security measures by centralizing the authentication process. Rather than juggling multiple login credentials for various applications, you need one identity provider (IdP) for access. This consolidation allows for consistently implementing robust security measures across all connected services, including multi-factor authentication (MFA). Password policies and security protocols at the IdP level are typically more stringent than individual applications, reducing the likelihood of compromised accounts.

Equipping public users with SSO provides a critical layer of control and monitoring. This centralized authentication method not only simplifies access but fortifies security measures. Administrators can swiftly revoke access to all connected services in case of a cyberattack or violation of the website’s acceptable use policy. This immediate access control is instrumental in safeguarding sensitive information and mitigating potential risks. This real-time control safeguards data and mitigates the risk of unauthorized access.

The SSO Login Process for Residents

Residents we talk to tell us they want seamless, private-sector-like access to and experiences with local government software. That means they want one username and password to conduct every transaction with their local government, from paying their water bill to renting a park pavilion for their daughter’s quinceañera. So, we built it.

Now, residents can conduct various transactions or service requests with your website without maintaining separate username and password credentials, making the experience more seamless and easier — which we know increases the likelihood that they will engage more frequently with your civic offerings.

If you’re a CivicPlus customer with questions about single sign-on and when your residents will start experiencing the greater convenience of fewer logins, contact our award-winning Technical Support Team.
