Solution:
Implement Self-Publishing Software from CivicPlus
Result:
Convenience and the ability to rapidly update and publish code changes
Hastings, Michigan, switched from Full-Service Codification practices to Municode’s (now CivicPlus) Self-Publishing Software to maintain and publish its code in-house. The staff was impressed with the amount of control the software gives governments. Today, staff members enjoy that they can control, maintain, and publish their code of ordinances in-house.
CivicPlus acquired Municode in 2021. Today, Municode Codification, including Online Code Hosting and Self-Publishing Software are part of the CivicPlus Civic Experience Platform.
The Self-Publishing Software has saved Hastings’ staff members time and made maintaining its local government code of ordinances a breeze. The City appreciates that the software allows leaders to post ordinances on their effective date of passage. This has benefited the community development staff, planning commission, code enforcement personnel, and most importantly, the Hastings community. Hastings utilizes the document linking feature to include meeting minutes for passed ordinances. The staff uses the software to write the ordinances, allowing the City and council to see historical changes made to an ordinance from draft to passage.
The staff at Hastings appreciates the superior customer service it receives from CivicPlus. They were trained not only on how to use the self-publishing software but also on the best practices for a government to maintain its code.
