In June 2023, the City of San Bernardino’s Clerk’s Office implemented a new public records request platform, NextRequest powered by CivicPlus®, to enhance the process of obtaining public records. This partnership aimed to streamline and modernize how residents interact with public records by providing a user-friendly interface for submitting and tracking requests.

The introduction of NextRequest has significantly improved residents’ civic experience by enhancing public transparency as well as improved accessibility to acquire information. The platform allows residents to easily submit and monitor their requests through automated notifications, and search for previously released records. The modernization aligns with the California Public Records Act and ensures a more efficient and engaging process for accessing public information, benefiting the city’s large population by fostering greater openness and convenience.
