Betsy Eckhardt serves as the Parks and Recreation Director for the City of Columbus, Nebraska, where she has led the department for the past five years. With over 15 years of experience in the recreation field—including a decade with the Columbus Family YMCA—Betsy brings a deep commitment to community wellness, program development, and leadership training.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and is a Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) as well as a Certified Park Champion. Betsy is especially passionate about staff development and takes pride in mentoring her team to become strong leaders at every level of the organization.

In her current role, Betsy oversees recreational programming, facilities, and strategic planning for Columbus’s parks system. She also brings extensive experience with recreation management software and enjoys sharing practical tips on how technology can improve operational efficiency and community engagement.
